Last week, the August Subscriptions went out, but they couldn't have gone out without a little help. When I realized I would be moving across the country this summer, I reached out and asked for some help, and three awesome stitchers stepped in to embroider the colorburst samplers in advance, so I would have finished versions to show you all on the publication dates. This one's stitched by my friend Stephanie, who I've known since we were little kids in green and white striped tap dancing leotards. It seems pretty appropriate that this sampler is also green striped, come to think of it!
I thought long and hard about what to call this design. Stephanie stitched it with bullion knots, which I absolutely love. There was a big discussion on Instagram when I posted it that the knots look just like maggots, which has certainly come up before in my workshops. There's no denying that they resemble, um, maggots. But I couldn't bring myself to call them that when I listed the extras just now in the shop, so this sampler is the *INCHWORM*.
If you're a Stitch of the Month Subscriber, you will have received the Satin Stitch Sampler. One speedy stitcher (@citybeestudio) has already finished this one- as you can see on her instagram feed. I was shocked when I saw it since satin stitch is usually so time intensive. I love the neutrals she picked out.
